Cost includes the writing retreat, 5 nights across two luxury hotels, meals, airport transfers in Marrakech and events as outlined in more detail below.
(These are the details of our previous event from May 2024, future events will follow a similar format)
Three nights in the exquisite Izza Marrakech (24-26 May), in the heart of the medina, and two nights at Kasbah Bab Ourika (27-28 May) in the beautiful Ourika valley in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
There are two price levels: standard, and luxury at an additional $150 USD which gives you a larger room during your stay at both hotels. Room upgrades are on a first come first served basis and may not be available to all participants
For an additional fee, participants may also opt to bring a partner (+$1,800) or another writer (+$2,800) with them and share their hotel room.
Space is currently limited to fourteen applicants.
Upon acceptance of your booking request we will require a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. The booking form is linked at the bottom of this page.
The remaining balance for your booking will be due no later than April 1, 2024.
Bookings made on or after April 1, 2024 will need to be paid in full.
Deposits and fees are not refundable. Please ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place.
*Costs do not include air fares. We suggest you secure your flights as soon as your booking is confirmed.
Included with your booking are the following:
Transportation to and from the airport whilst in Morocco (air-fares not included).
A complimentary spa treatment of either a traditional hammam, or a massage.

A one-on-one meeting with your teacher.
Generative writing prompts.
A private guided tour of the most famous landmarks of the medina, with visits to the best hand-selected shops for caftans, and home goods.
A candlelit rooftop dinner at Izza.
A five star luxury Moroccan feast at a famous luxury riad, with traditional gnawa musicians playing throughout the evening.
Tickets to the famous Majorelle gardens and Yves Saint Laurent museum.
A window into the magic of Marrakech in the sixties, that attracted people like the Rolling Stones, Paul & Talitha Getty and Jane Fonda, with an exclusive talk and cocktail party in a private home once owned by famed Fashion Designer, Yves Saint Laurent, designed by the famed designer, Bill Willis. This will be followed by dinner in an ancient palace, now a restaurant.
Candlelit terrace dinners at Kasbah Bab Ourika.
Evening readings, generative writing sessions, talks and presentations.
A limited edition silk chiffon caftan from the Sister Stardust collection, inspired by one of Talitha Getty's famous caftans.
Event Options & Upgrades

Kitaba Deposit
A $1,000 deposit against the total fee of $5,900 is required to secure your space on the retreat.

Luxury Upgrade
For an additional $150 you can upgrade to a larger room in both hotels.

Additional Guest (Writer)
If you want to share your room with a friend who is also a writer then for $2,800 more they can be added to the event.

Additional Guest (Non-Writer)
For an additional $1,800 you can bring along a partner who can enjoy all the non-writer specific parts of the retreat.

Attendees are required to pay the initial $1,000 deposit to secure your place within 48 hours of receiving the payment request otherwise you risk losing your spot. If you do not receive a payment request within 24 hours of your booking please get in touch with us at info@kitabamarrakech.com
The retreat balance will be due on April 1, 2024.
Payments are non refundable and do not include flights to and from Marrakech.
