Jane Green, an introduction to Kitaba 2026.

The Kitaba experience leaves an imprint hat lingers long after the retreat ends. It was a beautiful reset, a spark of rewilding, and a reminder of how powerful it is when women come together to create.

The Kitaba Writing Retreat, taking place at one of the most exclusive, luxury private villas in Marrakech, brings Jane’s insider knowledge of the city, and exclusive access to intimate events.

Who should attend Kitaba & why?

We welcome everyone, from aspiring female writers with a great story to tell, to published authors, to anyone who has ever dreamed of writing a book.

There is a special alchemy when a group of women gathers to write, to share stories, and to reconnect with themselves. Kitaba isn’t just about writing, it’s about rewilding, putting yourself first, and reclaiming the joy and creativity that have been buried under life’s demands.

Here in Marrakech, every moment will inspire: writing in the garden, swimming in the pool, sipping a date martini on the rooftop at sunset gazing out over the Atlas Mountains, and savoring candlelit dinners of tagines, and couscous. Morning rooftop yoga while hot air balloons rise above the city is an optional extra.

You’ll leave with pages of your own writing, memories of a transformative experience, and a circle of new writer friends.

Writing is like sex. First you do it for love, then you do it for your friends, and then you do it for money.
— Virginia Woolf
Stories will be shared, friendships will be formed, and your life will be transformed.

Kitaba has just nine spots for those wanting to learn, write, or simply be inspired by a group of committed, supportive writers, led by Jane Green.

Marrakech, also known as the Red City, is an old fortified city packed with vendors and their stalls, the medina quarter being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is one of the busiest in Africa, with Jemaa el-Fnaa the busiest square in the continent, filled with jugglers, acrobats, snake charmers and musicians. Known as the city of luxury thanks to its famous palaces, 5-star restaurants, luxury spas and hammams and charming riads (traditional houses) in the medina.

Kitaba 2024 - Feedback

“The Kitaba experience leaves an imprint that lingers long after the retreat ends. The creative sisterhood—hearing each woman’s unique voice and story—was deeply inspiring.

I arrived unsure of myself, not fully seeing myself as a writer, and left with renewed confidence and a rediscovered passion for storytelling. The space, the prompts, and the openness shared made room for real transformation.

It was a beautiful reset, a spark of rewilding, and a reminder of how powerful it is when women come together to create.”
